Friends,

My silence of late has been for many reasons but in the last week I've been fighting off swine flu for the SECOND time in six months!

Ok, I know my fiction is shocking and beyond tasteful. I appreciate my editing skills are akin to that of a blind badger and I agree I've wronged a few people over the years. But...... TWICE!?

I have to say I thought it was bad the first time round but man, this was horrific! Started last Saturday and only today and I really able to drag my ass around the house and do anything. As an asthmatic I tell you, this ain't no fun!

My good lady had it since last Wednesday now and is only just recovering, the daughter had a smaller dose. Takes a lot to do me in....

Still, better out the way for the holiday season!

A warning to all, please make sure you have stuff ready for infections.... Cold pills, cough meds etc. If you see the signs, fight it! Good hand hygiene etc. Not teaching anyone to suck eggs, just giving a friendly reminder. You don't want this for Christmas!

Tamiflu? I had it the first time and made me feel worse. Got through this time without.

All that said.... IT'S BLOODY GOOD TO BE ABLE TO THINK STRAIGHT AND HAVE SOME DIGNITY!

I apologise for this random, off topic thread. After several days of fever and delusions for company, I needed closure lol.

Hi Vern. Sounds crappy, and I do hope you are wearing gloves and a face mask when you post on here.

Glad to see you back, particularly as it's reminded me I owe you an email.

Good to see you're back on your feet, Vern.

I think I've had it, too, though not quite as bad as you by the sound of it. It would be nice to know for sure - anyone who invents an instant swine-flu antibodies detector will probably make a fortune...

Or is it you want to play doctors and nurses, again? :D

Glad to see you back Vern and very little is 'off topic' on this forum and, in fact, getting multiple swine flu infections may well be science fiction - who knows?

Thanks for the wishes guys. Multiple swine flu...... Hmmm... Rather take on a a dalek lol.

Face mask in place tho, TTA is safe (at least from my germs).

The sad things is having a week in bed to write would be awesome, something I'd probably half kill for. The reality however is a week of feeling pants and just enough energy to drag oneself down stairs to the bathroom and back.

Thought I'd join this thread as it seemed quite apt to my situation. Haven't been here for a while as I've had a terrible bloody month. First a cold I couldn't shift, then that escalated into full-blown swine flu, which progressed into a touch of pleurisy (which luckily the antibiotics for the flu stopped) but today after dragging myself up the doc's for another check up, as I've felt so grotty, I was told I have pneumonia now!

All I want for Christmas is The Black Plague and I think I've had it all.

A word of advice, if you have the slightest inkling you might have the flu, get to the docs and on the antibiotics, nothing else seems to touch it.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, feeling a bit better, think the flu
is beaten, just the pneumonia to go now. Still have to stay inside though
as the air is very cold down in Swansea and I have to stay warm. Certainly
messed up my present buying, however :(

Take care Bob, and get well.
