This year I'll probably be using my emergency strategy, which is to go through all my notebooks to find the silly titles I've noted down over the years, and then use them as chapter headings.

Oh - my - gawd. That strategy is awesome!!!

I don't think it was your daughter getting the reaction...

Oh, a book cover without a book - now you really need to get on with it, Bob :D

"One, two, three, four missing..." (does that make it scarier?)

A long list of titles for potential books have now been pressganged into service as chapter headings...

"The Entanglements of Brown"
"I Couldn't See Past the Spider"
"The Wurst That Could Happen"
"Three Days in Purple"
"The Slow Communication"

... and so on. I'm all set to go. If only my novels lived up to my titles!

Great list of chapters. Attended our local kick-off party today and got a "Randomiser Novel Rescue Companion." My favourite suggestion: "Add a giant to your novel." Definitely going to use that one. Can't think of any novel that couldn't be improved by the sudden intervention of a giant.
Don't have a cover yet, but this image caught my attention: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nationaalarchief/2948561027/
Good luck everyone taking part.

Aaaannnnddddd... I'm off!

Got my first 520 words done and dusted onto the NaNoWriMo site but will need to fill that out by another 1,300 or so by tonight to keep within my target. Anyone interested can go here -> http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/546932
which should show my score and also the opening chapter.

I'm up to 6271 after attending an all-night write-in at a hotel. I was really cracking on, but it all fell apart once a bunch of people started chatting. The people wise enough to bring headphones carried on to 10K whereas for me it was like hitting a brick wall.

Still, a decent start even if I'm a bit disappointed.

I probably shouldn't have signed up this year - my heart was never really in it, but I did like the idea of staying up all night writing at a hotel. 9500 and I'm out. 8)

As of this minute I'm up to 43,400 but I'm beginning to dry up pretty badly. My zombies are now on Mars and in the final chapter will be reaching (stumbling) for the stars :)

Finished! They Feed On Flesh ended on 50,893 about five minutes ago and the last word was 'Arrgghh!' <- pretty much how I felt after nearly a month of writing much more and longer than I usually do. I don't think I will be doing NaNoWriMo again, it's one of those things you think might be fun trying (like hitting yourself in the head with a mallet) but soon realise it has its drawbacks.
I'm going for a lie down now....

BTW, anyone want to publish a zombie romp? :)
