#52 sees Black Static pass another arbitrary milestone with the publication of its 300th story (excluding the 20 flash fictions that featured in #17/18 as part of the Campaign for Real Fear).

And, simply by virtue of running order, the 300th story to appear in the magazine is 'Trying to Get Back to Nonchalant', written by Ralph Robert Moore and illustrated by Joachim Luetke.

Of the 300 stories that we've published, 83 (28%) have had a female by-line (for the statistical purists, that's 82 stories written by women, and two that were co-written with men).

153 writers have had fiction appear in the magazine and 47 (31%) of them have been women.

The ten most frequent contributors to the magazine are:-

  • Ray Cluley - 14 stories
  • Carole Johnstone - 11
  • Steve Rasnic Tem - 8
  • Daniel Kaysen - 8
  • James Cooper - 8
  • Tim Casson - 8
  • Gary McMahon - 7
  • Ralph Robert Moore - 7
  • Joel Lane - 7
  • Andrew Hook - 7

I'd like to further break it down by nationality, but life's too short.
