Black Static

Listed below are the books received for review since the last update, which was back on 17 August 2012.

Twenty  new titles, taking our total books received for the year so far up to one hundred and fifty five, which compares with sixty four titles reviewed in the four issues of Black Static published so far this year. In rough terms, this means that any individual book has a less than 1 in 2½ chance of being reviewed.

Only three of the twenty new titles are either written or edited by women, giving us a running total of thirty two out of one hundred and fifty five or 21%, which compares with 31% of the titles I've reviewed in the magazine.

Projecting forward, with nine months of the year gone, if the amount of books received for the year continues at the current rate we're set to top two hundred books for 2012, but the missing issue of Black Static owing to the schedule change means that the final tally for books reviewed will be somewhere in the region of 80 - 90 titles.

Anyone who is thinking of sending us stuff for review should bear these statistics in mind.
